Artist Talk: Unmeasured Presents by Orkan Telhan
ICA Philadelphia
JUL 17, 2019
6:30PM–8PM
Orkan Telhan is an artist who studied at University of Buffalo with Tony Conrad between 2003-2005. He documented some of the earliest “digital” images of Tony Conrad’s work through a series of conversations and site-visits during this period.
In this lecture-performance in conjunction with Introducing Tony Conrad: A Retrospective, the artist will reflect on a series of ideas rooted in Conrad’s work using personal footage and works by other artists who studied with Tony Conrad. This algorithmic collaboration between concepts, instruments, and people will intend to scope, measure, and counter with Tony Conrad in search for other presents through his thinking.
Programming at ICA has been made possible in part by the Emily and Jerry Spiegel Fund to Support Contemporary Culture and Visual Arts and the Lise Spiegel Wilks and Jeffrey Wilks Family Foundation, and by Hilarie L. & Mitchell Morgan.
